Follow Your Heart and Follow Your Dreams

I just came across a story which is from the book "Chicken soup for the soul: 101 stories to open the heart & rekindle the spirit" By Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen

It is a real story experienced by the author Jack Canfield. He describes one of his experiences regarding following dreams.

I thought I would share it with you all.

Jack explains the story as thus.

I have a friend named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Ysidro. He has let me use his house to put on fund-raising events to raise money for youth at risk programs.

The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, “I want to tell you why I let Jack use my house. It all goes back to a story about a young man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable to stable, race track to race track, farm to farm and ranch to ranch, training horses. As a result, the boy’s high school career was continually interrupted. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.

That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch. He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200-acre ranch, showing the location of all the buildings, the stables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000-square-foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch.

He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On the front page was a large red F with a note that read, ‘See me after class.’

The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked, ‘Why did I receive an F?’

The teacher said, ‘This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you. You have no money. You come from an itinerant family. You have no resources. Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You have to pay for the original breeding stock and later you’ll have to pay large stud fees. There’s no way you could ever do it.’ Then the teacher added, ‘If you will rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal, I will reconsider your grade.’

The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. He asked his father what he should do. His father said, ‘Look, son, you have to make up your own mind on this. However, I think it is a very important decision for you.’

Finally, after sitting with it for a week, the boy turned in the same paper, making no changes at all. He stated, `You can keep the F and I’ll keep my dream.’”

Monty then turned to the assembled group and said, “I tell you this story because you are sitting in my 4,000-square-foot house in the middle of my 200-acre horse ranch. I still have that school paper framed over the fireplace.” He added, “The best part of the story is that two summers ago that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on my ranch for a week.” When the teacher was leaving, he said, ‘Look, Monty, I can tell you this now. When I was your teacher, I was something of a dream stealer. During those years I stole a lot of kids’ dreams. Fortunately you had enough gumption not to give up on yours.‘
Don’t let anyone steal the dreams God gives you. Follow your heart, no matter what.”

-Adapted from "Chicken soup for the soul: 101 stories to open the heart & rekindle the spirit" By Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen

"There is never a set path or predefined way of leading a life. Just make sure you follow your heart. Just don't bother about anyone else or anything else."

But still, I would say it is not as easy as said. One needs a lot of mental strength to listen to his/her heart and not heed to other's pressures and views. It is a tough task to follow our dreams. A lot of our own people will definitely be disappointed in the process. But the bottom line is that it is us who is leading the life and not the others. Just need to realize and act on this.

"Completey awed with the reality"

It has been a year since I started this personal blog of mine. A simple thought just struck my head and it manifested into a blog. I don't know how far I've been able to convey my thoughts to you or how far people have understood what I write, but yes, it has been a superb experience once I started blogging and entered the online world.

After a year's experience I would say that blogging is essentially an open online personal diary where you write down your thoughts. Neither was I good at writing before, nor did I think that I'll be one :) It just started with a thought, which I decided to write it down somewhere and preserve it. This essentially became a practice and now I find it easy to write something whenever I want to. Now, I have a passion towards to writing and will definitely fuel this new found hobby of mine to give it more speed and shape.

After 7 months of experience in blogging I started a food blog i.e. "TICKLE YOUR TASTE BUDS" which was initially named as "Pratiba's food World". Again, cooking is my new found passion. :) Everytime I get some new idea to kill my time it certifies as an apple of my eye :)

On this prenominal day I would like to just re blog about the video below. It is a documentary film which then was transformed into a book. I am still reading the book, although I started it long back :) [ Sounds strange but its true ;)] I had already written about "Law of Attraction" previously. Do go through this link before proceeding any further.

In today's world there are only few people who do not complain about their
troubles and hitches. So it becomes very difficult to accept "Law of Attraction". One may arise with several arguments saying "Law of Attraction" is only an attractive looking deceptive theory. All this is definitely likely to happen.

But only when one starts applying it in his/her life, it explains itself. There are diverse affairs written in the book which I am still trying to digest. In fact, I am still surprised that the book has pointed out every mistake that we usually do but aren't even having the slightest awareness of it. I don't know how Rhonda Byrne has written such a phenomenal book. I am completely awed with the reality.

It is obvious that when a girl gets to know something new, she has to get on to tell it to the others. This is what I too did. ;) I told it to my friends and wrote a blog about it. Some listened to it and just left it to that moment. Some listened to it and applied it upto a small period of time and forgot about it completely. Some listened to it, got amazed by it, are still applying it, realizing new concerns and relishing the fruits of the results.

I have a friend who is originally an extremely positive, bubbly and a vibrant person. But at one point of time he was plunged completely in his own issues and never was ready to hear anything. I had to give him the video but he wasn't in a state to watch it at all.

Later after quite a few months when he was quite free, I gave him the book directly to read, as he's a voracious reader. He read the book within no time and realized exactly what was expected from him. He himself asked me the video, watched it, understood it. In fact he knows much more than me now and effectively applies it. He has even spread the word in his home with his family and they are the most happiest of families I have ever seen till date. Touch Wood. :)

Most of the times it is me who is down with something. At that point it is he who knocks my head and reminds me of what I had told him.

There are many such instances around the world. It is just a matter of not giving entry to the thoughts which make you feel bad. Everyone, including you and me have thoughts that make us feel bad. But it is upto the individual to allow or not allow the thought to conquer our minds.

It is indeed very difficult to monitor thoughts. And anybody will go crazy if you ask him/her to monitor his/her thoughts as there are about 60,000 thoughts that go through a human mind every single day.

We can only attract positive thoughts if you feel good about what you have around you. That is the only essence. Gratitude is the requirement here. Having gratitude towards whatever you have is the next essence. Then you will welcome a chain of soothing thoughts to your mind.

Cribbing, complaining, arguing, fighting, frowning your face all the time, getting disturbed for trivial issues, longing for something that is far from practicality all these are something you need to keep yourself away from.

I would end this write up with a few snippets from the book.

BOB DOYLE
AUTHOR

Basically put, the law of attraction says that like attracts like. But we're really talking at a level of thought.

The law of attraction says like attracts like, and so as you think a thought, you are also attracting like thoughts to you. Here are more examples you may have experienced of the law of attraction in your life:

Have you ever started to think about something you were not happy about, and the more you thought about it the worse it seemed? That's because as you think one sustained thought, the law of attraction immediately brings more like thoughts to you. In a matter of minutes, you have gotten so many like unhappy thoughts
coming to you that the situation seems to be getting worse. The more you think about it, the more upset you get.

You may have experienced attracting like thoughts when you listened to a song, and then found that you couldn't get that song out of your head. The song just kept playing over and over in your mind. When you listened to that song, even though you may not have realized it, you gave your full attention and focus of thought
to it. As you did that, you were powerfully attracting more like thoughts of that song, and so the law of attraction moved into action and delivered more thoughts of that song, over and over again.

The law of attraction doesn't care whether you perceive something to be good or bad, or whether you don't want it or whether you do want it. It's res-ponding to your thoughts. So if you're looking at a mountain of debt, feeling terrible about
it, that's the signal you're putting out into the Universe. "I feel really bad because of all this debt I've got." You're just affirming it to yourself. You feel it on every level of your being. That's what you're going to get more of.

LISA NICHOLS
AUTHORAND PERSONAL EMPOWERMENT
ADVOCATE

The law of attraction is really obedient. When you think of the things that you want, and you focus on them with all of your intention, then the law of attraction will give you exactly what you want, every time. When you focus on the things
that you don't want — "I don't want to be late, I don't want to be late"—the law of attraction doesn't hear that you don't want it. It manifests the things that you're thinking of and so it's going to show up over and over and over again. The
law of attraction is not biased to wants or don't wants. When you focus on something, no matter what it happens to be, you really are calling that into existence.

When you focus your thoughts on something you want, and you hold that focus, you are in that moment summoning what you want with the mightiest power in the Universe. The law of attraction doesn't compute "don't" or "not" or "no," or any other words of negation. As you speak words of negation, this is what the law
of attraction is receiving:

"I don't want to spill something on this outfit."
<=>"I want to spill something on this outfit and I want to spill
more things."

"I don't want a bad haircut."
      <=>"I want bad haircuts."

"I don't want to be delayed."
      <=>"I want delays."

"I don't want that person to be rude to me."
<=>"I want that person and more people to be rude to me."

"I don't want the restaurant to give away our table."
<=>"I want restaurants to give away our tables."

I would suggest you to read the book. There are lot many affairs to realize. It is better to read I would say. You can download the ebook from here.

You can download the complete 90 minute video here
